Agent causing periodontal disease: a major cause of periodontal disease is bacterial plaque, especially Gram-negative bacteria.
Major component of the plaque: the bacteria. Bacteria account for 90-95% of the wet weight of plaque. 5-10% is composed of a number of host cells, mold organic and inorganic ions.
There are two basic types of plaque: plaque on the gums and plaque below the gum line. Most of the bacteria present in the plaque on the gums is loving bacteria and bacteria randomly, while in plaque below the gum contains the majority of anaerobic bacteria.
The basic types of plaque below the gum: hard plaque tissue, soft tissue plaque and plaque left.Hard tissue plaque buildup on cement, dentin and enamel plaque on soft tissue sticking to the epithelial cells of the plaque and left dangling in between the above two classes.
Calculus is plaque calcification. Tartar usually dark colors like black, brown or gray after plaque hardens into tartar and inflammation occurs, the bleeding site has happened before, that blood cells attach to and penetrate into tartar, followed by the melting of blood and hemoglobin / iron stained tartar.
Major signs of gingivitis are hot, red, swollen and painful. Gingivitis is not necessarily a precursor of periodontitis. Chronic gingivitis can survive for a long time without causing periodontitis. The cause of gingivitis can become periodontitis by pathogens associated with bacterial and abnormal response of the host.
Periodontitis were divided into two categories: - Periodontal Inflammation around the top of tooth decay due to complications of untreated-Chronic periodontitis is a complication of chronic gingivitis.
